How our rec system works:

--> What's our reccing schedule?
Well, there isn't much of one. Anyone can make a rec post at any time.

Reccing guidelines complete with a header form can be found below.

--> Who can make a rec?
Anyone can, anytime - as long as your recs fit the theme of the comm, of course.

--> What can I rec?
Dean-focused hurt/comfort fics and other fanworks, but of course. ;) Check out the comm's general information & rules for more info. If you still have questions after that, see our FAQ for further clarification/examples.

And there will be recs based on themes, pairings/genres, episodes, random favourites, insta-recs, etc. - depending on what the reccer is into at the time of posting.

--> How do you choose what to rec?
Speaking personally, (as maypoles, one of your mods) my insta-recs will generally be fanworks I've come across off-site that I think members of the comm may not be aware of otherwise, (like challenge entries that have yet to be cross-posted outside of their comm of origin, etc.) and my other rec posts will be a combo of off-site fanworks as well as fanworks that have been posted to the comm by the author/artist herself.

Also, I read pretty much everything - gen, Dean/Sam, Dean/Castiel, het, etc. - so my recs will hopefully reflect that.

Disclaimer: All recs are subjective, and based on the reccer's personal tastes.

How to post or submit a rec:

a) If you'd like to make your own rec post, you can do that at any time. Reccing guidelines complete with a header form can be found HERE. (No self-recs, please.)

There are monthly reccer sign-up posts occasionally too. This is just to make sure we have at least one rec post per month, and it definitely doesn’t exclude anyone else from making a rec post, whenever! The more recs, the better. <333

b) If you have a rec/recs but don't want to make your own rec post, or want to rec anonymously, or whatever, you can instead submit your recs HERE to our rec submission post. A mod will make a rec post at the end of each month of everything you’ve sent in during that month. If a month is skipped, that's because there were no recs received that month. (No self-recs, please.)

c) Aaaand please suggest and link to other fanworks that go with the theme, pairing, characters, etc. in the comments of any rec post. Share the love! These recs won't be part of any of our rec posts, but they're very much appreciated. (Self-recs welcome.)

To go with option a, and make your own rec post:

What can I rec? Dean-centric h/c, but of course. ;) Check out the comm's general information & rules for more info. If you still have questions after that, see our FAQ for further clarification/examples.

You can make rec posts for a particular theme, pairing/genre, author/artist spotlights, random favourites, etc. It's up to you. As long as Dean-focused h/c is involved, of course.

To do so, please use the rec header forms below or something similar.

01. If you have more than 3 or so recs, it would be great for everyone's friends-pages if you could put the rest of your recs behind a cut. If you don't know how to use a cut, check this out.

02. A few examples of what your subject line should look like if you're posting a rec/recs:

Example #1: post-Faith fic recs (gen and Sam/Dean)
Example #2: some feverish!Dean faves from fanfiction.net (all gen)

Or something like that! Just list the theme if you have one. You can add whatever else you want to the subject line as well.

03. As far as your actual rec post goes:

  • Your header for fic recs should look something like this:
  • Note: Really, your headers can look however you want, but please do include as much of the following info as is available.

Title: Also, don’t forget the link to the fanwork!
    Author:
Tags: What type of Dean-focused hurt/comfort the fanwork features goes here; e.g, fever, PTSD, etc. More examples can be found at our complete tags-list. This is important because I archive all recs posted to the comm at our Pinboard account with that info. So, it it would really help me out. ;)

    Spoilers: If applicable.
Warnings: If applicable. Please warn for non-con, self-harm, or anything else that might be triggering for people. Also, make sure to note here or somewhere else if the fanwork is a WIP (that is, a work in progress.)
    Summary:
Reccer’s comments: What you like about the fanwork goes here, and any other comments you may have about it. Caveats are fine, but keep it nice.

    04. Tagging is greatly appreciated and will help people find your posts later. You'll want to use the !recs and #reccer: guest(s) tags, as well as the tags you'd use on any other post. If you don't know how to tag or need a new tag created, see this post.

    05. If you make a rec post in this comm, please let the recced authors/artists know you've done so.

Below are the answers to some questions you may have.

    FAQ:

--> Anyone can make a rec post.

--> Whatever themes, pairings/genres, etc. you choose to rec (provided they include some form of Dean-focused h/c, obvs.) will be awesome.

--> We accept recs for fic, art, vids, whatever you can think of.

--> Caveats are fine, but make sure to keep it kind.

--> Try not to rec something that's very recently been recced at the comm, as in, one of the last rec posts. (You can browse previous recs at the comm, or at our Pinboard rec account, for advanced searching. Otherwise, don't worry if something's been recced before. It will always be new to someone. ;D

--> Yes, you can totally rec fanworks that have previously been posted to the comm by the author/artist herself!

--> No RPF recs, please. This is a Dean-focused community.

--> Please don't self-rec here. You're encouraged to self-rec, however, in the comments of any rec post - especially appreciated are recs for fanworks that go with the theme, pairing, characters, etc. of the rec post in question.

Any other questions? Feel free to contact a mod.

That's it! Rec away. And THANK-YOU in advance. ♥

To go with option b, and submit a rec to be posted by a mod:

What can I rec? Dean-centric h/c, but of course. ;) Check out the comm's general information & rules for more info. If you still have questions after that, see our FAQ for further clarification/examples.

Just copy, paste, and fill out the comment form below as a comment to this post at any time.

Then what will happen is, at the end of each month a mod will sort these recs into themed lists if possible, and make a rec post, or posts out of them. If a month is skipped, that's because there were no recs received that month.

  • An example of how to fill out your comment form:
  • Title: Untitled works too.
    Author/artist:
    Genre/pairing: Gen or Sam/Dean, etc.
Possible tags: What type of Dean-focused hurt/comfort the fanwork features; e.g, fever, PTSD, etc. More examples can be found at our complete tags-list.
Reccer's comments: What you like about the fanwork, and any other comments you may have about it. Caveats are fine, but nothing rude, obvs.
    Link to fanwork:

  • Fyi, you don't have to use this exact comment form, but please make sure that you do leave a link to the fanwork, as well as leaving some sort of reccer's comment. And if you want to use it, just copy, paste, and fill out the form as a comment to this post at any time:

    FAQ:

--> Anyone can comment here to submit fanwork recs. You may do so under your username or anonymously. Contributers who leave their usernames will be acknowledged in the suitable rec post(s). Reccing is an important part of fandom and deserves some loooove.

--> We accept recs for fic, art, vids, whatever you can think of.

--> You may rec as many fanworks as you want, in the same comment or different comments as you discover/think of them.

--> Caveats are fine, but make sure to keep it kind.

--> Try not to rec something that's very recently been recced at the comm, as in, one of the last rec posts.
