And start from scratch Seifer likely will. He's grown used to Squall-mannerisms over the years and the odds are pretty good that'll help him out here.

The question would be why he's so familiar with Squall-mannerisms. It's not exactly normal for someone to be well-versed in those kinds of things, especially for someone they could care less about.

"I guess. It's not like I can go back." Leon tossed the remaining apple core into the wastebasket by the table, leaving those cryptic words hanging as he leaned back. "So where're your friends. Or don't you have any?"

If Squall had asked, Seifer would have mentioned something about having grown up together. The fact that they'd been sparring partners and rivals could wait.

"What, you lose someone in the past?"

The comment about his friends was conveniently ignored, not that he didn't have them.

Leon fell silent, a blank look shielding his face from any emotions. He's had time to come to terms with his failings on the day Hollow Bastion fell, and knew now that Laguna nor his sister Ellone would want him to continue to blame himself. And for all the others he couldn't save...

"Are you done?" Leon asked instead, smoothly rising from his seat and starting to pack the basket with discarded cloth napkins and containers again.

Done, and he'd found what looked like it might be a slight sore spot, if he was reading Squall right. He'd save it for later though. No need to go all out right away.
