Intrepidity.

I am aghast with incredulity as to the level of fatuity that the policemen have thus far shown; and while I understand that we may seem like arrogant children to them, they must see that we are more than capable of not only understanding, but also carefully dissecting their methodology and plans as to the rousing of key suspects.  The fact that ( Read more... )

There are some things that just don't go into words, HPL. Try and describes a smell or a taste--all you can do is compare it to things, which is why wine descriptions always go into all that rot about notes of chocolate and berries and so on.
Frightening things are among the worst, because we can't always say just why we're frightened--the monkey brain, or the lizard brain, or whatever, nows there's good cause for fear, but can't explain it to the part of us that wonders whether we have clean clothes to wear and why the sky is blue.

The sky isn't blue...but I understand and agree; though I was more concerned about my lack of poetic prose. I seem to be slacking in my writing as of late--I should remedy that.

You're a weird, weird guy, Lovecraft.

No value judgements involved, I'm just sayin' is all.

Jeff! I brought more lunches for you today! You did like the ones I brought Monday, didn't you? You found them in your backpack all right? I wasn't sure, so I brought more, and these are a bit different. Oh, goodness. I hope you have access to a microwave...

Are you kidding? The lunch you made for me was all I ate all day! I wish I could've appreciated it more, instead of scarfing it down on the way to work... but my boss doesn't allow us to eat at the computer. (Dizzelizzicious, though. Fo shizzle.)

Yes, please, mon petite murder suspect, feed me feed me feed me! More more more!

Ah... you're a lucky man, Lovecraft.

My lunch was all you ate? I'll have to start putting dinner in tupperware for you. You do have time for dinner, don't you?

And it isn't really that good, I'm sure. They're just sandwiches.

I see your French is coming along. Any phrases you could teach me? I figure I can use some with teachers who don't know French and make them think odd things. It ought to be amusing.

If there's anything I could do, please let me know. Perhaps it was something you ate? If so, and if you can recall what it was, I'll try and make something quite different for dinner tonight.

It was nothing I ate, Jane. Your cooking is superb, and being sick from it a near impossibility.

*proud, arrogant, conceited, etc, tone* Nor would I expect anything of my making to make you sick, Phillips! *return to regular tone* However, I do notice you call it a near impossibility.

But really, if you wish for me to stay up with you- No, you aren't a child. However, I do wish you would call or something when you weren't feeling well. I'd like the opportunity to help, even if I can't do much.

I say near because anything in excess can cause intestinal problems.

And you can stay with up me whenever you want. You know that. I'm fine, don't worry so much, love.

You never know, Lovecraft. They might be as scared of you as you are of them. Humans create worlds with their thoughts, too, and their creations have a tendency to run amok.

Hmmm...no. This was different...but familiar. Do you recall when I said that your incident with the cats falling from the tree was familiar to me ffor some unknown reason? It feels like that, only stronger. I would normally suspect deja vu, but it's nothing like it...

...hmm.

The fact of the matter is, I see only a few viable suspects, and as far as I can tell--which is a fair amount, I can assure you--the police are not looking at any of these.

Does this bother you as much as it bothers me?

As for your dream, it seems...more concretely abstract than most. How fascinating for you.

Probably.

Concretely abstract? Odd concept, but I suppose I see what you mean.
