PoD Week 11 + Alternate Block
Week 11 is here and it's one of my favorite blocks! I hope you like it, too!
For those of you doing a Dark Arts version of the PoD, there is an alternate pattern included on the last page of the week 11 file. You will need to enlarge it from 5" to 10" in order for it to work with the rest of your blocks.
Reminder: If you DO NOT want to see the block before you make the pattern in order to keep it a mystery, please do not click on the cut! If you leave a comment, you will be taken behind the cut and will see the block...just FYI!
I'm so excited to get to share this block! Of course this is Hedwig. She's one of the first blocks I ever designed when I started working on my first Harry Potter quilt back in 2005/2006. This version is slightly modified from the original. Because of the larger scale, I was able to include more piecing, so you get the color of her eyes. And, of course, she's perched on a book now, which makes her fit quite nicely into the rest of the PoD!
For those of you working on a Dark Arts quilt, I created this eagle owl, which, as you know, is the owl of choice for Draco Malfoy. A small disclaimer here: I have not tested this pattern, though I did check it over carefully for mistakes. Please let me know if you have any issues with it. The eagle owl is included with the week 11 file on the last page. It's drafted at 5", so you will need to enlarge the pattern in order to get a 10" block.
