Today was such a sad day at our house. Our beloved Loba died peacefully after a battle with cancer. I was by his side throughout the day and was with him when he died. We are all so sad at the loss of such a great cat. He was beautiful and stoic. He came into our family shortly after Larry and I moved into our house. I love getting presents. I love giving them as well, but I LOVE getting presents. And I was so excited when I read in one of the adoption books that we should celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day, since we can consider ourselves expecting.

Last Saturday, Larry and I traveled to Northern Virginia to be fingerprinted, which is a requirement for international adoption. We left Lynchburg by 7:00 am and arrived at the Citizenship and Immigration Office around 10:30 am, after taking the scenic route through numerous Civil War battlefields. So, we've made tons of progress in moving on with our adoption. Our autobiographies were successfully written and turned in. L has had his individual interview. My interview is scheduled for this Friday, as well as the walk through of the house. L and I had our first visit from the social worker that will be doing our homestudy. She actually taught one of my graduate classes, so we know one another already. The initial visit was not awful. So, I have a new hero and a newfound respect for my best friend. Today she had a baby. But not your average sized baby...no, he tipped the scales at 10 pounds, 13 ounces. And she delivered him naturally. I can't wait to get my hands on him. Welcome to the world, Thorn.
