Lame week.

Fragging awesome weekend

After work on friday three of the older (40+) PhDs in my lab, me, and one of the 30something year old grad students all went out to a local Izakaya (cheap booze and food place) for some relaxin'.  Of course this resulted in a new round of "lets try to gross out the foreigner," (a game with which Im becoming well-acquatined ( Read more... )

I now have internet in my dorm.  Pics are posted on facebook, and I should be on IM now and then now. 

 So yesterday I had to go downtown (well, Shinagawa) to go to the immigration office to obtain an official visa.  I tried to tell my boss that I didnt like the idea of doing this by myself, but he insisted he was too busy and shoved the documents in my hand, telling me to stop being a wuss.  I take multiple train lines down to the Shinagawa station ( Read more... )

 They had a party for all of the new foreign students last night and required all of us to get up and say something.  There were about 20 of us...almost all east asian, plus one guy from bangladesh and two middle easterners.  Most of them spoke incredibly good (to my ears) Japanese and gave 3-5 minute actual SPEECHES about how much they liked Japan ( Read more... )

 So friday I finally I decided I was going to go back to the Okachimachi shopping area and check out that huge department store I went to the weekend before, as well as all of the other assorted sites and sounds in that area.  The department store ended up having a lot of different food and food-related items that Ill probably want to purchase at ( Read more... )
