Yeah, the depressed tone of voice stuck me as well. :D The other thing I wondered about vaguely was whether the pilots should have recognised it was a new voice, but I have no idea how high the turnaround is on air traffic controllers or whether or not pilots tend to do the same routes over and over.
While they seemed to get the actual lingo correct, their actual demeanor didn't seem terribly professional (especially the second guy, Mr. Not-Tony). "Hey, uh, this is air traffic control. We want you to change... uh, the angle, the thing... vector? Anyway, go for a different landing place. Landing thing. Runway! That's it, it's 'runway'. Yeah, go for another runway. I just wanna mix things up a bit."
...is it terrible that I could easily envision a series simply entitled Incompetent Air Traffic Controllers?
