You lucky FL - not only am I updating you on Stargate Universe whether you want me to or not, I also have some rather unexpected Red Dwarf news!

First up: apparently the Stargate Universe pilot will include a familiar face in a cameo appearance. You have until the end of this sentence to guess who it is! ( Technically a spoiler, I guess )

Ha! How did I know that Shanksie was the idjit person who would be guesting on SGU? (You know, that makes me think of Stargate University, not Universe - given that all American universities have three letter acronyms. Anyway.)

It's so sad that he's the only C actor who is available to guest.

I know - who could possibly have guessed that ahead of time, right? ;) Though to be fair it appears that the writers may not have a lot of choice - someone dug up an interview from a few years ago in which Amanda Tapping said that because of licensing/rights issues, the only established characters allowed to appear in any new series pilot must be from the original movie. It's something to do with taking credit for whether the pilot episode is successful or something ( ... )
