"Weddings! I love weddings! Drinks all around!"

Matt and I went off to the wedding of one of his friends last Saturday. We piled into Karl's Explorer along with Jeff and his sister Kathy and headed down to Brooks, Georgia which is kind of out in the boonies. I wasn't going to complain, though, since there were plenty of horses to see :) Anyway, the ceremony was quite nice as well as pretty ( Read more... )

Maybe someday mumtaz and I will have a semi-normalized relationship with your parents and you can come up to spend a few days with us. I could get behind the scences pretty much anywhere at my zoo. My building of course, where you could observe up close the feeding/training of Asian Small-clawed Otters, and get to touch Three-banded Armadillos. At some other buildings you could feed Reticulated Giraffes, Bactrian Camels, and Wart Hogs. Who knows, you might even be able to get up close and personal with our Grevy's Zebras. And as for snakes, you'd get more than your fill of cool stuff at our house as well as my colleague Rob's place (The Wildlife Discovery Center), which is home to the most complete collection of Rattlesnakes in the United States. Of course K's gotten to do many of these things already, but hey, gives you something to look forward to one of these days.

That would definitely be something to look forward to--not to mention just being able to hang out with you guys :) Now I can't promise I wouldn't try to smuggle a camel or a zebra back home with me, but I'd do my best ;) So do you always work in the same building with the same critters or do you get to switch out every once in awhile?

As far as I can tell, you and Kirsten have quite the menagerie at your place. Do you still have corn snakes? I thought I remembered hearing that you guys had picked some up at a reptile show.

As for question #1, I always work the same building/same animals. However, I've been trying to cross-train at the Bird House, but that recently got screwed so I probably won't get my chance to train there until sometime in October. As for question #2, I do have quite the menagerie, and yes I still have two Corn Snakes. Unfortunately one of them hasn't been eating for me for a while now but I'm hoping she's just going through a phase.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for both the training opportunity and your corn snake :) I bet working in the Bird House would be pretty neat. I love birds but the closest I get to them in most cases are the Canadian geese which invade the backyard and the wild birds that come down and poke around in the grass while I'm out reading ;)
