How come holidays are always busier than being at work?
Seems ages since I updated my journal... hang on, it IS ages since I updated my journal... time for a brief roundup of real-life ramblings and fic links!
We are moving house in a month's time - eek - not very far, thankfully, but there still seems to be a lot to sort out. At least this time - unlike the previous two moves - we are moving to somewhere bigger, so there will be more wiggling room and we won't keep tripping over boxes. At least, that's the plan.
The Last Triops hung on for over a month after the demise of all the others, but eventually came to a standstill, sleeping peacefully on the sand next to a half-nibbled carrot peeling. There are worse ways to go, I guess. And it's not really gone: we have dried out the sand and hope to hatch another generation next spring. But it does leave a gap in the kitchen, a sense of something missing.
The sun is out and the beach is beckoning - I sat in a stripy deckchair yesterday and wrote new Arthurian fic, rather tentative new fic it has to be said, but at least my two favourite boys are speaking to me again after a rather long silence, and as they galloped through the forest I think I saw a couple of plot bunnies lurking under the trees...
I have just about managed to cobble something together at the last minute for the current ninth_eagle fanmedia challenge in
Round 2 and
Round 3 and have absolutely no idea about Round 4 although once again the photo prompts are a wonderfully diverse selection!
My Boosh epic is crawling through Part 3 by fits and starts (so far there are chapters
20,
21,
22,
23 and
24 and we are nowhere near done yet) and I also had to run away and write another
one-shot, which then got a
follow-up because I am very bad at saying no...
And now I am going to sit in my jungle of a garden, watching the bees in the marjoram flowers. I'll take my notebook with me just in case I catch another glimpse of those plot bunnies!
