I'm told I'm supposed to make some resolutions upon the new year. This has not been required of me before. I asked one of the janitors for some suggestions, and he said I could use some of his, but I'm not sure they make much sense. Here's what we came up with

That said, people tend to be very public about their resolutions. I suspect the collective reasoning is that if everyone knows, you'll feel more pressure to follow through because suddenly, everyone know you're a failure if you do not achieve these specific (and usually redundant) goals. Many also use it as a common source of commiseration, which is another reason to people publicize them.
