It would be very dull of me to post about a nutrition strategy and not the actual event...
So, there was a Big Bike Ride. In my case this was big in terms of number of entrants rather than distance, since I did the 50 miles (225 riders) rather than the 100 (91 riders). Tomorrow I am riding the Cambridge Big Bike Ride. Or maybe the Medium Bike Ride, since I'm doing the shorter of the two routes.
I am riding 50 miles. My plan is to ride at 15mph, so that would be a time of three hours 20 minutes.
British Cycling's recommendation is that you should consume 0.5-1g of carbohydrates per hour per kg of body weight, ( Read more... ) -
Enthusing about co-operative boardgames
I've always been a fan of co-operative tabletop games - it's probably a lot of why I like roleplaying, and I enjoyed Pandemic more than most people who played it at Games Evening. Like several people, I'm trying to post a bit more often, so I'll make month-in-review posts if I don't manage to write anything else interesting in the month.
A few numbers:
Distance run: 22,730 metres
Distance cycled: 85ish miles No distance beyond that done for some other reason, too cold.

On preparation
I've been running (slightly more than) 5,000 metres as a decent way to keep in shape over the winter where it's some mix of too dark/cold/wet for me to want to cycle 30 miles or more, my normally preferred method of exercise. Since discovering that there was such a thing as an annotated collection of all of Roger Zelazny's short stories, I've been making my way through it at the rate of a couple of stories a week or so.
