Arrrrrrrr Matey!

Last night I was reading my book and musing on the fact that I have not suffered that much queasiness thus far. Sure, I had spent the day I finally took the (first) pregnancy test feeding myself a nearly lethal amount of Immodium ad, but otherwise I wasn't doing too bad in general ( Read more... )

If you do begin to get heavy-duty nausea, look at your local pharmacy (I'm not sure if there are CVS stores where you are, but they carry them for sure) for a product called Sea-Bands. You can even check their website to see what stores in your area carry them, and most private pharmacies will order them for you. They are armbands that work on the principle of accupressure. I have severe motion sickness, and these things WORK - not even Dramamine or meclazine (sp?) would work for me. I also used them when I had surgery last year, because they are recommended for people who get sick from anaesthesia (which I do), again, worked like a charm. The other recommendation is, dun dun dun, morning sickness. Since I've not been pregnant I haven't been able to personally test that use, but I'm sure they work well for it too. ;)

Soda crackers are a good idea, as is peppermint tea. Both will settle your stomach. Some people don't get morning sick at all, and some don't get it very bad or for very long. Some get it later than one month in.

If you want him to get off the gamebox and rent you those movies, perhaps you should get up in nothing more than a fedora, some slinky lingerie and a cap gun. That should get anybody's attention.

Spaghetti is delicious (have you tried your secret sauce on him?) but lasagna is better. Heh.

I usually feel slightly dizzy in the morning, but feel better after I drink tea (ding, ding, ding!), and start snacking.

However this morning sickness phase seems like a wave of all day nausea, and going from feeling perfectly giddy to wiped out several times within a sigle hour.

I finally ate a big salad, and have not had any consequences.

We are so doing the pasta thing. We bought fixins.

We got to blockbuster and were standing in the isle that had the Godfather and I said loudly to Michael we only want Godfather 1 and 2, and some jackass in the same isle made an "ooohhh!" sound (as in "ooooh, good idea") and grabbed film 1 off the shelf right in front of us. I only wish I were kidding. Aalas we have film 2, and Aoen Flux now...

(I own a crappy recording of the first film. It's one of those things I have been meaning to put on my amazon wishlist but never got around to)

Be careful of giddy-followed-by-wiped-out. You might mention that one to the doctor. It sounds like blood sugar fluctuations.

Watch out for salads late in your pregnancy as well. Some stuff in salads (such as certain lettuces and nuts) can mimic certain of the body's hormones that trigger labor. There are actual recipies for salads for pregnant women who are near their due dates to eat so that they will be able to time their delivery for the most convenient time.

Pasta... *weeps piteously* I haven't had good any pasta in ages!

Re: The "Godfather" incident: How do you manage to run across such unusual (and rude bastard) people?! You really should be paid for your good ideas, instead of everyone stealing them. There's only one Blockbuster where you live? You could have tried another one if you really wanted to catch the first film ( ... )

Holy god. I think I'd have grabbed it right out of his hands. You don't mess with pregnant women.

For morning sickness (more like all day sickness - I had it really bad) ginger biscuits (or anything ginger for that matter) really helped, as did Travel Bands - those are fab for nausea in any event.

I just have to suggest Birth Reborn by Dr. Michel Odent for your pregnancy reading list - it is an incredibly powerful book, I think you'd like it - it's very inspirational! :)

The first two godfather movies are in my top 10 (I have no idea what the others are) off the top of my head.

It's funny because the other day, III came on and I hadn't seen it yet on my HUGE 65 INCH TV, so I decided to watch it anyway (knowing how bad it is) and I got bored and switched to hockey.
