I am working on the final edits of a paper that is an entire year late. It is almost finished and should be submitted by nightfall. At which point, I will probably have to cry hysterically from relief ( Read more... )

Surprising as it is, I was actually here a year ago... The late paper was for my first and only required class. Good thing I turned it in, eh? Another week late and they would have thrown me out!

Would they have actually thrown you out? And if it wasn't your thesis, why the seriously delayed due date?

Would they have actually thrown me out? An interesting speculation. It is universtiy policy that any incomplete must be resolved within a year or the student (me) fails the course. It is department policy that that particular course must be passed in order to fulfill the requirements of the program. Likely, they would not have thrown me out, but rather required me to take and pass the course next year with the first-years-- which would have been a bit humilitaing, as I'll be in my third year by then. I'm SURE glad that I don't have to find out, though ( ... )

the wonderful thing about a lj or any other blog is that you are free to post things that would make terrible conversation. So I say, bring on the work ideas! Then again, I surreptitiously read Science and Nature every week, for fun.

I totally want to hear the work drama! Because I can compare it to my own, which is always entertaining.

Unfortunatly, most of the work drama is so damn touchy that I feel bad even considering airing it in a public forum-- or, sometimes, at all. Last year when I was seeing a shrink, I kept getting scared that he would know some of the people I was venting about-- I know that is silly, he's a SHRINK for God's sake, he's not going to tell the Admin Asst.s I said nasty things... but man. It's ugly.

Posts of any kind are appreciated. Even ones that only occur once a month ;)

And I agree that you should feel free to post whatever you want. I frequently post stuff with weird film theories that rarely gets responses, but it's still nice to put it out there if only to free my thoughts to the airwaves. It also helps me process my thoughts and generate new ideas.

At it's most functional for, LJ is a way to stay in touch with friends. At it's least, it's a notepad that helps generate ideas. Heheh, so it's generally a win-win.
