Oh, that was sad. :(

Poor Ed - fighting depression with whiskey!

Now I am really curious what is going to happen next,to both Ed and Roy.

Very interesting story, thank you for sharing.

And thank you for reading <3

They've both got it pretty rough right now, and I imagine it'll be worse before it'll be better. That said, the next bit should be up soon <3

This is incredible. And it deals with the thing I hated about the canon ending. Ed losing his alchemy just felt wrong, and like it could destroy him.

This bit made me well up, so Ed did what he did best. He tried harder. That's so Ed, and so heart breaking.

Thank you very much! And yeah, I despise that about the canon ending. It takes away everything Ed is, and I can't see him immediately reacting well to that.

Oh, Ed. What is Roy going to do with you?

Apparently let him sleep off half a bottle of whiskey in a chair by his bed for the moment XD

I really loved the symmetry you drew between the city and the characters. Ed realizing that Roy might in ruin too was what really broke me on this chapter. All the trying he does for Al is juat pure Ed, and he can only take and give so much before he was bound to snap. But then seeing the man you know to be so damn tall and strong small and lost in a hospital bed. :( That'll really sober someone up fast.

Thank you very much, and that's exactly what I was thinking. As much personal damage as Ed has right now, he has this idea that Roy is untouchable until he's very very obviously not.

My god...you have captured the soul of what Cow blithely ignored in her cannon: Ed lived for his mission and his brother and his alchemy. Al is becoming independent. His mission is gone and so is his art. His mind does not know how to move forward. That trapped animal feeling---all that hurt and loss...this is so achingly painted for the reader. Wonderful, my friend. Wonderful and heartbreaking.

Yeah, the end of the manga never sat well with me, not because I'm not an Ed/Winry shipper (I'm not, but it wasn't going to ruin the story for me), but because I felt like Ed's reaction to his loss of alchemy didn't ring true. Ed was so driven and his alchemy was so intrinsically part of him, I can't see a scenario where he snaps his fingers and is okay with losing it, even when he has Al's body back in trade.
