I don't know. I've got a good sense of smell and scent is a trigger for memory; I know that for a fact. I had business at a school not long ago and the moment I was breathing that air, the scent of chalk and children (the kids were young enough so I wasn’t smelling cigarette smoke) I seemed to remember a lot about teaching. When I was younger I read that scent - smells, not necessarily perfume - hits us straight on the emotional level without necessarily alerting the intellect on the way in. It’s probably true. I’ve got a good sense of smell and I’ve got better at identifying scents as I’ve got older ( Read more... )
