Pulled into the driveway at 7:05.

I had forgotten how exhilarating it is to drive down an empty, unlit section of road at high speed with the sound system cranked up and lightning fracturing the clouds, lighting up the landscape with blasts of stark, blue-white light.

And then someone dropped an ocean on me.

Miss I and I are driving down to Melbourne. On the Barton Hwy now. Should be there around 10pm.

MissI and I went to Rocksalt in Hawker for my birthday yesterday. Quail, Duck and Kangaroo yummyness abounded. They have changed owners 5 months ago and I'm interested to see how the new owners put their own spin on the place. Of course that mean going back a few more times :)

So that is it for the year. Like so many public service departments we are shutting down over the holiday break and we have until Jan 2nd off. Like so many public servants I am taking leave on that day and won't be back at work till the 5th. Then 13 more working days left at Prod Support and then I move to my new position ... somewhere. 28 working days (49 actual days) till I finish up my job at DEEWR. And then 11 days off and I start my new job. At DEEWR.
While I enjoy my job and the people I work with are great and I will miss them I'm really looking forward to starting the new job.

Having run out of new books to read I have taken to re-reading some of my old favorites out of my collection while at the same time trying to avoid my most favorite ones for fear of reading them too much.
