FIC: "The Waiting"

One year ago tonight, I was standing in a long line at a bookstore ticking off the last hour before the release of DH. My Mom was visiting and she went with me, and people were dressed up (including a very believable Bellatrix), and it was so much fun.

I loved the book, but I felt, like most H/G shippers, it would have been nice to see their ( Read more... )

This is one of the best post-DH stories I've read. I love the almost-slow progression of their reunion, along with the way you portrayed George. It's perfect.

Thank you! I didn't think they would get back together immediately, but I also wasn't a fan of the theory that it would take years for them to find each other again. And, as much as Harry went through, I felt badly for Ginny, having this jumble of grief and relief and loss and hope all swirling around inside. The conversation with George was one of the first and most difficult sections I wrote. I'm so glad you liked it!

It has been way too long since I read a fic where Fred wasn't mysteriously alive still. I really should be more careful about what I read in the library though. This is a beautiful tribute to Fred and his loved ones left behind but they are starting to look at me funny here. *cries snottily*

Sorry to make you sad, but I'm really glad that you liked it. It's funny - I miss Fred terribly, but since DH, it's hard for me to read fic where he's still alive.

*hands you a tissue*

Thanks for the review!

I really enjoyed reading this. It was interesting how you took a traditionally comedic trope (the would-be couple constantly being interrupted at the most inopportune times) and made it work in such a traumatic time against a backdrop of sorrow. Really well-done!

As always, your characterization is perfect. I really enjoy reading your Ginny. :)

I'm so glad you liked it! Interestingly, I wrote the end of this first and then went back and wrote all of the interruptions. I've read a lot of really good reunion fics, but I was especially interested in exploring Ginny's deep sense of grief over Fred (and others) because the twins and Ginny seem to have such a nice rapport in the books.

I really enjoy reading your Ginny. :)

Thank you! She is (obviously) one of my favorite characters.

you sure capture canon h&g brilliantly!!! it is realistic it took a bit of time for h&g to actually have privacy and be together to talk about their individual experiences that particular school year after dd died =] it's also spot on ha&g cannot talk easily with each other but at least they started once they made known their strong feelings towards each other. fantastic h&g read!! best from nyc!! =]

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed this and that Harry and Ginny in this story seem to be both canon and realistic. It's always how I try to portray them.

i keep checking to see if you have a new story up and if there isn't anything new, i just read the old ones again. and each story you write is like a gift that keeps on giving :)

i've lost count of how many times i've read your work and there really is no point because i'll just keep coming back.

hoping to read more h/g from you :) thanks :)
