Kate and I packed a picnic lunch and drove to the river.
She has a new Mini-Cooper and a picnic basket, and I had bought cherries and made walnut brownies. She fixed us turkey and cheese and mustard sandwiches.
We have had 90+ temperatures for many days now, and only in the shade by the fast-flowing river is it cool enough to walk and even have a picnic lunch. Everyone in our town is out on the water, or walking on the paths with their dogs and children. The temperature must be 10-15 degrees cooler!
An old-fashioned picnic and a brand new car.(I love the forest green colour!) Contrasts... It sounds peaceful, Jackie, and it looks like a perfect picnic place.
love the car, those are my favorites.suemarsJune 5 2011, 22:29:01 UTC
and the river. do you ever swim in it? when we lived in NC, i would go in the french broad. everyone had a fit, but i loved it. parts had rapids. it was wonderful.
What a perfect day! Glad you got a little breeze by the river. Being by the water is usually cooler. The weather has just been stiffling here, too. Everywhere on the east coast, I guess. Thanks for sharing your special day.
I haven't been back to the river since Sunday. I rarely leave the cool house--we have had 90 plus days since the end of May! It is brutally humid and so very stifling, no breeze anywhere.
The grass is growing tall, but I dare not mow, lest it turn brown.
