On Friday, October 18, 2019, I went with a friend to watch Maleficent at the movie theater. We each got an adult beverage prior to settling into our seats, he a vodka mule, a cider for me. (Adult beverages? Movie theaters are so cool these days!)

Two anecdotes
On the last full day of our cruise, my father and I went to the library/game room to play Connect 4. We sat down close to an morbidly obese man I had noticed and avoided the previous days. Quick post to note that I chanted Nitzavim on Yom Kippur. I woke up, feeling quite parched, and practiced twice. My voice was dry, and I wasn't sure how this was going to go. But Harry and Sarah dropped all plans and came with me to this congregation to hear me chant. We spent the morning there before heading back to our default synagogue ( Read more... ) -

I have a new air conditioning unit. And it works. I haven't posted about this for a while, because it was disheartening and draining, but I actually haven't had air conditioning since I first posted last year that the air conditioning broke. Compliments
Yesterday, I was at a quick-service restaurant, customizing my kosher for Passover lunch. One of the servers remarked, "I really like your look today."
I don't remember ever encountering this woman, but I was very honored by her words and said thank you. She added, "It's very editorial." I thanked her again, at a loss for any other words.

First time for everything
Today, I was called to do the Torah blessings before and after the reading.
I think the last time I sang in front of an audience was when I was 14, for an extra credit in honors English class. I'm happy to say that I didn't mess anything up, just as I didn't when I was fourteen (singing a very different song, of course).

Simcha
Every week during Shabbat service, the rabbi asks the congregation if anyone would like to share a simcha. I've never shared anything before, not because my life is devoid of happiness, but my shyness would never allow it.
