uh oh

My dog is acting really weird.  We think it's mainly his hips bothering him, but he's never cried like this before.

Otto is my life.  He's my first baby.  He's 8, but since he's a mutt I think he should have a longer life expectancy than the purebreds he's descended from, but I'm not even close to done with him yet.  I hope the vet can get us in

Me too. He's drama queen, so maybe it's just like a bad mosquito bite I can't see. Here's hoping.

He's a mix of Rottweiler and then something else we're not sure of - perhaps some shephard or Dobie or Lab. He's been on glucosymine (I have no idea how to spell that) because in the winter his hips get really stiff, but this seems to be different. He cried all through the night. I hate this.

Poor dog. Our lab used to have seizures that noone could explain. it was terrible to watch him go through that. he hasn't had one in over a year though so i am hoping he has grown out of it. so sorry about Otto. 8 doesn't seem that old, i know he's an adult dog, but it seems young to be getting these types of problems. it's not like i am speaking with any kind of experience or knowledge, it just seems like he's not that old. poor puppy.

Have you looked at hip displaysia? Genetic hip problems common in large breed dogs and more common in purebreds. I had to have my husky checked for it and all of her pups too before they could be sold.

I hope everything is OK, it would be so much better if they could only tell us what hurts and where.

Lucky ended up with arthritis in his joints and was on medication for it. He was totally fine on it. I bet that's what happens. Otto gets some meds and then he'll be fine.

And Lucky was a St. Bernard mix and lived to be 14.
