I'm a Bi-Polar Bear...

So last night I'm flipping through the channels and end up on Dateline NBC. Jane Pauley was on there carrying on about her bi-polar disorder. At first I was making fun of her, but after a few minutes I found myself watching in horror as she began describing something I've been dealing with my whole life. It was the first time that I have ever heard ( Read more... )

I say to go see a doctor. Just to see what he/she says.
Hell, before you move on to medication, maybe see a few doctors to get different opinions. If they give you different diagnoses, then you could weigh them out.

take the meds for a while (hell they cant hurt)- then ween yourself off with the knowing of maybe finding ways to keep at that level?

My mom is a bi-polar manic depressive, and living with her was excruciating. Mostly because she wouldn't take her meds regularly. I'd suggest getting a proper diagnosis, and if you feel that your problems are severe enough to require medication, it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain. All you're doing is replacing what is lacking. Ta-da!

thanks to all of you for the comments and also to Chris Pizani who listened as I rambled about all this for one hour on my cell phone. I've decided to see a doctor. My company's insurance will cover most of it so now it's a matter of picking a doctors name from a list at Terrebonne General and showing up. Joe, you're exactly right. If it's merely a chemical imbalance than that's something I can deal with and it rids me of years of guilt when I thought that I was an asshole and there was nothing I could do about it. Thanks again...

Maybe next time you're around Stacy and Cameron you can ask them how much fun it's been being around this asshole.

courtesy of Angelle. I'd try something natural like this before jumping to chemically engineered/dr prescribed stuff. BUT that's just me. I don't believe in that shite.
