Well my last day has come and gone... it was a very touching day with several students leaving me with parting gifts, Owen, Darren and Dan also gave me a t-shirt, as well as the Admins' gift of the beer stein. Never have I been so captured by NCIS as I have been today... the first part to the two part season finale of the third season finally reveals some parts of Gibbs past including his time in Desert Storm, and his family. So it's down to my last week of teaching at Carson Graham and I'm suddenly very contemplative of all that I have done, and all that I feel.

So what have I done today besides teaching? Marking! Yes, I have a ton of marking, and tons of stuff to return that I haven't had a chance to. There's a lot of catch up work. My goal is to have the bulk of it done and returned to the students by tomorrow... remember, operative word is goal.

It was such a good/bad day today. I gave a Quiz today on World War II, yet students decided to skip. So what'd I do? I called home to the parents. There were two that were legitimately away, while others were skipping. There is one that is on the border, and will need to speak with me on Monday. Today, I opened up my local newspaper to find that an old classmate of mine passed away from Hodgkin's Lymphoma in late April. Her memorial service will be this Friday. Like with most of my high school classmates, I lost touch with Ashley, but since she made the news numerous times since her diagnosis in 2003, I have kept up with her through her ( Read more... )

Today is kind of a special day...

• Law class has a field trip.
  
• SS 11 has a Holocaust Survivor coming.
  

So I got to the school at about 8:10am, in time for the head count to the field trip, and so I would know who didn't go and would be staying with me. In the end, 3 students didn't go. For one student, it was an optional trip, so he was fine ( Read more... )
