I knew there'd be a catch to the free proxy server: secure sites won't accept me. Which means that although I can browse freshdirect.com, I probably can't order my groceries. Fuck.

I discovered a way to connect to the problem sites via a free proxy server. I hope there is no hidden catch. I'm still trying to figure out a way to solve the problem for real.

I'm having a helluva time solving a really annoying problem with my internet connection. Just in the past few days, my browser (IE v. 6.0) has suddenly stopped loading certain websites that had been working fine earlier this week: cnn.com, villagevoice.com, freshdirect.com are the three I've discovered so far. In each case the examiner and I spent some time getting to know each other, bantered a little, then eased into a rich discussion of the material during which we swapped ideas and collabortively tried to get at the heart of certain issues.
