The way that they're getting their arses kicked is a joy to behold. But they deserve it. I'm no social sciences person, but the questions as quoted were clearly silly and ignorant of the fannish community - well, certainly those bits of it that I congregate in, anyway.

As for the word count nonsense - he should have just patted Minisoono on the head and called her a clever girl - it would have been marginally less insulting.

Wouldn't they have to, you know, do brain scans in order to properly work out whether there were neurological differences?! And as you've stated above, have a basic understanding of the subject matter in question BEFORE writing up a survey?

Of several sorts, I'd think. Admittedly my knowledge of such things is somewhere between the average layperson's and a physician's, but off the top of my head (pun intended), I'd want data from EEGs, MRI of the brain (with and without contrast), and PET scan of the brain. Y'know, the basic neuro diagnostic suite. That's in addition to a well-designed survey.
