That survey makes me want to headdesk repeatedly. I'm rather impressed with the comments. If only the two dudes who put that so called survey together could experience a teaching moment. The title of their book alone suggests they're not so much into learning.

I've been reading over more of the commentary, and I think the "researchers" are of the type that already have the answers they want, and we're messing them up with actual facts.

Right now they're still in the slightly placating/patronizing mode of "But don't you understand? We want to bring academic attention to you! Male academics! That will completely legitimize something fans have been doing for about forty years."

I'm eagerly awaiting word of their first flouncy flavored "Mean girls! No wonder you do nothing but write porn, because you couldn't get sex any other way" post. It's either that or they'll completely drop off the radar.
