Hello all, I just joined this communty in hopes that people more familiar with Akitas can help me out. I adopted my dog, Monty, a while ago from the shelter at 1 yr old. Hes now 2 1/2.  He was listed as an Shepherd/Akita mix, but his official adoption papers just say shepherd mix.  I think he looks a bit like an Akita, just more slender and less ( Read more... )

Does anyone else's dog go nuts over turtles? My Akita pushes them all over the place, even picks the smaller ones up and carries them around. I don't want the turtles to get hurt, so I try to make him leave them alone. Why does my big boy go so crazy over turtles? LOL
