Doubles luge! Boy are you right about that. If there was ever a gayer olympic event, I haven't seen it.

You two know what they say about men who are quick to call things "gay" don't you...

Seriously, what is most fun winter activity besides drinking hot chocolate, skiing/snowboarding or (some might say) hockey?? Sledding, that's what.

So they're racing sleds! C'mon, like that wouldn't be the biggest rush. Going a million miles an hour on a sled?? Head first! Or with way too many people crammed on!

Okay, so probably only the stupidest kids did that over and over. But they need their time to shine too. In tight spandex.

I think if they had a snowman building competition in the Olympics it would be complete. And then hot chocolate for all!!!

I never said I thought doubles luge was gay, just funny. But now I'm being overly defensive, likely leading you to believe even more what it is you are hinting at above. Anyway,

Speaking of funny, have you ever seen that Jerry Seinfeld bit about luge? About how it's the only sport you can do involuntarily?

(commanding voice): "You're gonna be in the luge!"

whiny voice: "But I don't wanna be in the luge!"

commanding voice: "Too bad!"

*screaming, pretending to be on a luge*

World Record!

>But they need their time to shine too. In tight spandex.

That's also funny. Well done!

Oh I guess I am a little on the quick-draw side at calling things gay. I guess it's one of my gayer qualities. Good thing I'm already hitched, as they sometimes say.

Yes, that Seinfeld skit is indeed a golden piece of hilarity.

Chris Potter did indeed play with Steely Dan. He is, of course, also probably the most highly esteemed jazz saxophonist of our generation (really, I know that's a bit overthetop but young guys obsess over him the way they did Brecker 10-15 years ago). The pianist in question was probably Craig Taborn, who is a serious badass. Did you go to see that group? They're really incredible. I sure hope you didn't miss that.

I couldn't imagine putting together whatever that was you were talking about. I glaze over when people start even mentioning how things work on the inside. I want to be able understand...but I always end up looking dumb.

I saw none of the olypmics. No functional tv. Too bad, Canada did well overall.

I thought you were done with urban divide, incidentally.

hi ian,

good to hear from you. yes, it was craig taborn who played on my rhodes. i didn't go to the show because i was gigging in fernie. i'm kinda sorta playing with urban divide again, but in a much smaller capacity. i'm at the bottom of the pecking order instead of the top. i still have mixed feelings about this, some of the tunes make me want to barf. however, playing a gig on friday night is more fun than doing nothing at all.

toodle-oo.
