Goodbye Falsie
Unfortunately, my trip to The Valley to visit Susan was made possible in part because today, we had to put Falsie to sleep. She had been incredibly sick and although she was healing she injured herself and possibly developed a gangrenous udder. Meet Baby Gale
Frosty kidded around 3:30pm this Thursday while I was in class. Gale (beautiful baby girl) is named for the incredible thunderstorms during her first day of life, and her personality . . . tempestuous =P. 2 hours after her birth she still was not nursing . . . I got a letter in the mail the other day about my car. I guess there's a recall because the back tailgate isn't screwed in tightly enough and it could fall off any second. Results of the CAE Test
After poor Falsie came down with severe arthritis and pneumonia for a week or two we tested her for a condition called CAE (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis Virus) and she tested positive. After this result we took blood from all our does and sent it off to be analyzed. The results are:
positive - they have the CAE virus (ie: bad news)
