OI! The sheer stupidity that has seemed to root itself within the American political system and the American constitution within the last four years both astounds and frightens me.
...Wow, I'm *really* thankful I live in Canada now.
But seriously, how can you align yourself with a party that flaunts its disregard for the Constitution and simple consideration for the beliefs of others?
Because over and over I hear that people supporting Mr. Bush are afraid the USA will be attacked if we switch leaders while our troops are in Iraq/etc. They're more afraid of being attacked than they are worried about civil rights (ours, or the Iraqi people's).
Listen up, folks: we were already attacked while he was in office.
They think it's strong and protective that Mr. Bush sent troops and has security alerts and scrutinizes foreigners as they enter our borders. They want someone in government to tell them what to do and what to think, which is probably what they want in their religious affiliations, too.
Get this: the group I work for has been ostracized by all other Christian groups on campus. Like, eight other ministries were planning a giant campus-wide worship service, and one of the grad students who volunteers for us kept asking about helping out with the planning, and he was getting the run-around, and someone finally told him, "Look, we don't want you participating, because you guys aren't 'Biblically-based
