If any of the Philadelphia area people reading this could provide me with a copy of the broadcast of the Phillies victory parade (either via tape or digital means) I would be extremely appreciative.

I'm about to head out for a whirlwind trip north to Philadelphia, the sole purpose of which is to go to game 3 of the World Series tomorrow night. Except the weather forecast for tomorrow is basically saying a lot of rain. I am going to be very, very unhappy if the game gets rained out...

The movers showed up more or less on time, they knew what they were doing, and got the job done in fairly short order. At this point the only thing left in my apartment are some cleaning supplies. I'm just barely started on the unpacking process, but there's no rush.

*Ok, technically the bank has most of the equity in it at the moment but still...

Last week I was thinking of making a flippant post saying that we should completely forget about corn as a biofuel source and in fact, to heck with switchgrass. What we really should do is figure out how to turn kudzu into fuel.

As it turns out, someone's already working on it.

First one from the end of the first season of (new) Doctor Who, taking a really stupid meme even further into the realms of silliness.

Then (via Boing Boing) it seems someone else noticed what I did about the bottom part of Darth Vader's head when the mask comes off in Return of the Jedi but this person actually did something with that.

If I needed any additional incentive to follow through with the house-hunting (which I have started) I'm getting a real strong reason right now. I seem to have acquired new upstairs neighbors who like music with a very strong bass line. Everything is vibrating in my apartment...

While I do miss Madison on occasion, the rest of the state has some real issues. Apparently an elementary school had a "Wacky Week dress-up" day where one of the options was for the kids to dress as members of the opposite sex. The local fundamentalists went bonkers. Sigh.

Of course Georgia's got plenty of issues along those lines as well...

Normally I don't pay much attention to fanfic, but this one sounded to bizarre to pass up. Short summary: Torchwood meets a LOLcat. No, really. (Warning, contains a big spoiler for Season 2 Torchwood if you aren't up to date.)  It is really bizarre, but also extremely funny.
