Is there any movie fan out there who wouldn't object to a remake of Casablanca? It's been gratifying for me to see how many people have posted something to that effect on my FL.

Totally agree with you regarding the need to use fresh ideas.

Shoot, I nearly went postal thinking about COLORIZING that movie. You cannot touch it. Or the Maltese Falcon.

I totally agree with Casablanca.

As for Wizard of Oz, there is a lot of room to play around with Oz. Did you ever see the miniseries Tin Man (SciFi series)? It was really good and explored some new ground.

Oh, expanding on it, sure. The world is rich and can be explored more. But the question was about a remake. :)

Straight remakes are usually full of lose & fail.

You also don't see them that often, thank goodness. With Casablanca, not sure where else they could go with the story other than Rick and Louis fighting the war. :)
