Hmm. If you want to work with kids, finding that kind of school might be a good idea. I have heard that in a few schools with older kids, they bring in people to teach peaceful practices such as meditation, light yoga, etc. I think there is chakra stuff included. I don't know of places where that happens here; but you might check Crossroads and Newroads schools. The possible downside is that large groups of children require increasingly more patience until they become 15 and crazy and start to become normally social again.
There are lots of day camps around the city. I'm sure you could find an appropriately themed one.
Could those montessori people recommend a place in LA?
You might try to associate yourself with one of those centers where mothers bring their children and sometimes participate with them.
Also, have you ever thought of practicing some sort of body work? It would seem that after you got started, you could get a lot of the factors you list.
Here's to more hopeful days.

i haven't spoken to anyone at the montessori school in a very long time. i still have the letter of recommendation written for me by the school administrator, but that's the extent of my connection with them.
i've definitely thought of doing body work. i've looked into different courses, but that's it. it seems that much of my search has led me to "looking into classes", but hasn't gone much further. the places i've contacted keep sending me stuff in the mail. i should just go to one of their open houses (i just hate the sales aspect of it all).
