good advice. i am really thinking about going to mexico to learn Spanish: I just have to find the right organization in which to do it. Guyana relates to a potential job. We'll see.

Hey... UBC is on my PhD application list. How long does your MA last and are you applying to PhD programs this year? Do you know Dr. Eagan? If so..what can you tell me about her? I hope you're doing well in balmy Vancouver. It was -8 in Edmonton last night and 17 in Toronto. WTF?!

thanks! I have wanted to go to "Africa" though I had never really thought about countries other than Kenya. I applied to a CIDA intern position in Mwanza, Tanzania but I doubt I will get it :(

Fortunately, yes! I will have to make some travel choices in the next few months---although Guyana and Tanzania are contingent on whether or not I am offered a job. I finished my MA in August and I am coming back to Ontario for a few months. Hopefully, by January, I will be in one of the places aforementioned. Europe is tempting for the very reason you point out. Plus, I have never been there. Hmmmm.
