two deadlines and an exit

We are now in the third war in Iraq in as many years. The first was against Saddam Hussein and his supposed weapons of mass destruction. THe second was against terrorists whom, the administration said, it was better to fight over there than here. Now we find ourselves in the middle of an escalating civil war ( Read more... )

It would be a better idea to wire a few trillion dollars to Bin Laden and Zarqawi than to set a date on when we will surrender to terrorists, I mean withdraw from Iraq ( ... )

I don't have time at the moment to go point by point and refute your reply, however I would glady take up your offer to grab some coffee. Being a "lefty" myself, well I won't go that far, I'm fiscally conservative, socially liberal, I think you need to take a look at you 'limbaugh-esque' blaming of the "evil empire" of liberal or left leaning America. Everything that is wrong with this country and this war doesn't fall on the shoulders of "hippies" and "lefties". We're not all socialists, reds, and anti-american. Being a self described liberal, I'm also entering the military next January, after I graduate college. I guess I'm not ill-informed,or plain ignorant enough to buy into the whole "only for oil" ideology, however you're lying to yourself if you think this war is all about perserving the goodness and grandeur of our "moral" leaders and their vision of a more perfect world, all while ridding it of horrible tyrants. I suggest if you have some time between your next Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, or Tommy Franks novel (jj;) that you ( ... )

Actually I find Coulter a bit too loud for my taste and I disagree with Limbaugh on points all the time. I've read about as many lefty books as righty as well. I dont like one side of a story. I watch CNN, I read the New York Times and Newsweek so I certainly get my fill of lefty propaganda. I try to avoid sentiment and look at facts, I look forward to the discussion... and coffee.

Jared, I'm a god damn Specialist. Well, I was. Couple more months, and it would have been Sergeant, and god help those poor, poor privates. Not relevant anymore.. but as far as I'm concerned... Unless you've spoken with Iraqi citizens themselves.. and heard (albeit in broken english) "The ground I walk on is now free for Iraq to live in peace, not fear. Many thanks." ... you can't imagine how much that country wants to rid itself of those who wish to destroy, rather than create. While Syria and Iran fill Iraq with the falsehood of jihad, good Iraqi citizens and American soldiers, sailors, and marines are caught in the crossfire. The "war" as you'd like to call it, is over. As you both should know, we haven't been to "war" since WWII. A declaration of war hasn't been signed since 1942. As far as "operation" Iraqi Freedom is concerned.. The combat action has not stopped. Why? Iraq believes that most of it's "elected" government is partial to Iran. Many Iraqi soldiers who fought "for" saddam during his reign are angry and disheartened to ( ... )

I apologize about the misranking mr. cj. as far as wmd's, I'll believe it when I see it, ignorant and arrogant as that may be. If there were, (and still are) why the hell wouldn't the admin. bring them out. Look at his approval ratings on this "war" <-- I'll use the word lightly, perhaps, occupation? I just think, using my feelings on the president and as a judge of his character, that if he had something to substantiante and quelch against disentors, that he would have long ago... why leave it in the dark and have the media and politicians continue to pick away at the lack of wmd's?
