The company that I work for has offered me a promotion, but in a separate department. I would go from being a researcher to becoming one of their headhunters. Through December I would share the country with Ellen, the woman who owns this particular franchise. Your concerns are legit. I worry much about the same sort of things and I don't even have the job offer. It is great that you are so conscious of these things. Don't think that you're silly because of it.

That being said...Is there any way you can comfortably bring up these concerns with someone at your job? Maybe your new boss Ellen? I don't know your relationships with them, and obviously that could be a really awkward subject ("So, I kind of think your job is evil..."). But are there any mentor-like types there you could talk to maybe? It is definitely a tough decision to make on your own.

And as a PS, I actually enjoyed reading through your reasoning in this post.

And PPS, I do miss you.

I miss my Johnny-O. I've talked about you so much to this new guy, I think he feels like he already knows you. you can also, probably friend him now. ;)

Also, how much do I respect you for thinking so hard about a position farther than "I get paid more! and travel aroud! wooot!" you are so moral. I heart you.
