State of the Teirkin: Quick Overview
One month to go in the semester.
I am officially (more than) halfway through my MLIS.
School is good, and makes me happy.
Also very tired.
August is two mini-vacations, annual Casa camping and New York to visit la emmasue19. Can't wait.
Been enjoying as much of the summer as I can with my lovelies, meged335 and tristus. Don't know what I would do without them. ( Read more... ) -
Whedon Addict
So. Finally finished Buffy. Was, I must admit, somewhat disappointed with the ending. Hopefully the comic series makes up for it somewhat. But I do have to say, Giles talking about the International Phonetic Alphabet symbol for the glottal stop ROCKED MY FUCKING WORLD. Gender Musings
I'm reading a nonfiction book right now (The Anarchist in the Library, by Siva Vaidhyanathan) wherein the author has replaced the generic "he" with "she." I actually appreciate this gesture; in some ways it does increase my engagement with the text. After all the uproar of the Amazon Fail bullshit exploding on my friends page earlier this week, I go to class and we end up reading an article about it and discussing it in terms of the ethics of cataloging.

Bollywood Noob
So meged335 and I have been attempting to wade into the wide world of Bollywood. We are now hopeless fangirls for Shahrukh Khan (especially paired with Kajol!) and so far have been choosing films based pretty much on his presence in them. To date: Dilwale Dulhanie Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. All are feel-good romantic ( Read more... ) -

Sometimes in life, I come across a coincidence that is so wacky and pointless and unlooked-for that I am filled with glee and want to tell everyone I know. Then I realize that it is highly unlikely that anyone will share my glee, as the coincidence is meaningless to people who are not me. So I keep it to myself. Langar at the Gurdwara
Today I went with meged335 and her classmates to the local Sikh gurdwara for the Sunday service. It was all in Punjabi so I don't know what they were chanting, but I liked the language and the music.
