Yunho was always taught that happiness was relative. See, he wasn’t the most fortunate of children, growing up. He would often watch his classmates show off their new toys, prance about with new shoes and new clothes, while he had absolutely nothing but the same set of uniforms he wore everyday. There was no envy in Yunho’s system, no malice towards the fates that had cursed him with such an insufficient life.

It was because he was formed on the mindset that happiness was not in material things, not in the amount of what you have, but the things that you achieve, the things that you attain without the need of money. He prided himself of his family, his parents and sister having been the greatest happiness in his life. And he sought to give them all that he could.

Yunho worked, and he worked hard for what he wanted. He wanted to give his family the happiness that they deserved. Becoming a star gave them just that, and Yunho pleased himself like none other the day that his mother had called him her star.

“Yunho yah!” Jaejoong called the young dancer over, his smile hidden behind a hand in sheepish humor. “Yunnie, I need you to help me with something.”

Yunho came without question, making his way into the kitchen where Jaejoong tinkered around with recipes and concoctions.

“No, no, no!” the singer laughed, charging out of his workstation the moment their leader stepped past the counter. With both his hands on Yunho’s waist, Jaejoong guided him backwards towards the dining table, carefully seating the taller male in his chair at the head of the table. “Try a few things for me?”

“Are they safe?” was the first question that slipped past Yunho’s lips. Jaejoong’s pout of pure disappointment was cue enough for Yunho to laugh and take both the singer’s hands into his own and squeeze them affectionately. “Yah, BooJae, I’m only joking. Of course I’ll try anything for you.”

Jaejoong’s face lit up with another smile as Yunho’s laughter filled his heart, and he immediately dashed back into the kitchen, reemerging with a bowl of rice and his first dish. The second soon followed, both in small servings that Jaejoong knew Yunho would be able to finish without complaint.

The first was a mix of Jiggae and noodles, an oddity that set itself amidst the normality of Yunho’s preference in food. His hesitation was almost evident as he looked down at the serving. Jaejoong sat at his side the entire time, watching as the first taste slipped past his lips and into his mouth. He chewed, savoring the taste as its goodness spread across his taste buds. It was amazing, as was expected from the singer to his side.

“Hey, this is amazing!” He quipped, digging into the second one with a hefty serving of pork on his rice.

“Really?” Jaejoong smiled.

“Like over the top and beyond the heavens, Jaejoong,” Yunho laughed, now with a hunger that craved for Jaejoong’s nameless dishes.

Jaejoong’s smile alone was something that Yunho lived for, and he thought of exactly what made the singer so amazing. And on the foundations that Yunho had grown, he realized that it wasn’t the fame or the glamour that captivated him so much. It wasn’t the money and the popularity, or the attention and the pride. It was being able to please others that made Yunho happy, and pleasing Jaejoong was the greatest source of happiness that the dancer could ever think of.

I love you because it makes me happy to make you happy.
