I thoroughly enjoyed my volunteer day at the Museum of London yesterday. They are repacking all their shawls, so my job was to take each shawl out of the open plastic tray it was in, remove the old tissue paper, wrap or fold it in new tissue, list it for information and put it into a closed archive box. Well I had the good fortune to go to another study day yesterday, on 17th century clothing mostly, with a nice extra. It was in a town called Maidstone, about an hour's journey towards the English Channel from where I live. I have just been asked for permission to use a picture of the cage crinoline on my web site for a publication in the U.S. It is called "Survey of Historic Costume, Fourth Edition" and is aimed at 2 and 4 year Colleges and Universities. Anybody know this, or know where I can get more info? I'm really thrilled, I think.

My son has just been over for a technical visit, and I am exhausted. Our main TV died the death last week, and my husband, who is an addict, nearly went frantic - he is a great follower of sport in most of its forms.
