So, winter's death grip on the area has finally subsided and it hit the 40's and 50's over these past two days, with more "mild" weather on the horizon (though also a bit of rain).  To take advantage of this, I figured I'd try to go for a few insulator hunts.  Why not?

I went out to SVC this weekend to see some folks and hang out and stuff.  The Mannerinos planned to go to the museum on Saturday, which I passed on, but Friday night, Saturday night and part of Sunday we were able to hang out.  It was a pretty good time, as always.  Didn't do too much on Friday, mostly just watched tv and hung out for awhile, we ( Read more... )

Well, what to write about...

We got a new puppy.  I guess that's a good place to start.  It's a 4  month old cocker spaniel, whom we named Sandy.  If you recall (which you won't), when we got Molly back in 2002 one of her potential names was "Sandy".  It must've still been in the old lottery ball machine because that's what we (my parents) chose.

My dog died today.  I've been through this four times in my life, twice with dogs and twice with cats, yet it doesn't get any easier.  Her name was Mollie, she was a 7-year old golden retriever and she was the best.  The worst part about this was how sudden it was.  She has been healthy, active and... So, I went back out to the Harmarville lines yesterday (Wednesday) for another hunt in an effort to get some of the insulators that I left on Sunday, as well as scoping further down the tracks. My pap had given me that telescoping tree pruner tool that had both a clipper and a saw on the end. It extended out to maybe 10-12 feet, I'd say. I ( Read more... )

So, driving through Harmarville a few times, I noticed some telephone poles way up along the rails that go across the river via the big blue bridge. The poles looked like they had insulators on 'em, so I kept it in my mind to check it out sometime.
