I think every mom thinks she isn't doing enough, at least I feel like that. River isn't talking really either, she really only uses three-ish words. They say playing with them is the best way to learn, so I wouldn't worry too much. I've been trying to get River to learn some shapes but she isn't interested lol. She loves animals, so I think that's why she's' picked up animal names (and she likes animal noises, and most of her books are about animals etc).
I love his painting! Is it finger paint or markers?
It's actually these paintbrush pens that have the paint in the handle so you don't have to dip them and they don't drip. They're pretty cool but don't work EXACLTY like a paintbrush.
I agree with arylkin, we all feel insufficient. I wasn't initially trying to teach dori animals, but he caught onto them quicker than anything else (OH, but I have been trying to teach him to sing.. videos to come)
OH, and to answer your magnet, CHICKEN BUTT. Or as dori would say "cockacocka die-durr!"
I wouldn't worry about it too much. You shouldn't push him to learn them. If he doesn't seem interested when you say something about it then let it be. Kaelin only knows dog(dug) and cat(ryry) and even then she calls them by what we named our cat and dog so she really doesn't know them all the well. Some kids are just way more active than others. I know that Kaelin would much rather be outside actually chasing her ryry than inside learning what a kitty is.
