I'm waiting on two books via inter-library loan and a list of more, all on the topic of 18th c. printed fabrics. I want to do some serious research so that my designs don't lead anyone astray. I hope I can both get these books and that they are helpful! Some are quite old, but there could be tidbits of info or images of items that have been in ( Read more... ) -
Shift sleeves
Ladies, what are your thoughts on shift sleeves as a separate item? They're mentioned in John Style's book Dress of the People and I found reference to them in the Old Bailey archives. My first reaction was confusion, but now I think about the way my own shift yellows and wears at the gusset and up onto the sleeve itself, and it would make great ( Read more... ) -
