Jul 22, 2011 02:34

Hello new feathers and old.

First off, I'm Captain Smoker. [Those who know otherwise can point out that he's a commodore, and that it doesn't even matter in this place.] I teach kickboxing, basic self defense, and jitte for anyone who would need it. I can also help spar against swordsmen if they're looking to expand their skills. Every so ( Read more... )

jitte, kickboxing, pirate scum, pirate trash, confiscating all pirate ships, pirates are idiots, marines are better, ships

Captain. I think it's honorable you're offering self-defense classes to civs and non-combatants.

On the second point, I don't think it could be too hard to organized. I realize the biggest issue is people coming and going unexpectedly, but I think an organized system could be worked out. Beyond that, how about some kind of city-wide warning system like a warning bell that can be heard all over town?

Make sense.

Rougher places? Really? Not that many brawls break out in the bar, but still.

I grew up in a rough city so I'm used to unruly thugs. This is something to worry about in comparison.

I see. And police there didn't fix it?

Some areas yes, other areas no. Sometimes the police were the problem.

[God he hates that. Worse than pirates.]

Sorry to hear that.

What's there to apologize for? It happens, it's how it is. [God, she hates that phrase.] I came from a rough world, I'll go back to it one day.

I've been working on that, but sometimes it feels like I'm fighting a hydra.

Go for the underbelly rather than the heads then.

That's the mistake marine back home make as well.

Difficult when the underbelly is your own government, but I get your point.

You're a marine? Or you have them in your world?

Right. On that I'd say to do your best and hope others learn to follow your example; but I'll let you know when that policy actually works out for me first.

I'm a marine. I used to be in charge of keeping Loguetown -- my home city, free of pirate scum.

The beauty and wonder of humans is how different we all are, but there also lies the trouble. Still, I know a lot of people trying to do their part to clean up the cities.

I take it piracy is a big problem in your world?

Little pieces at a time.

Hugely. Loguetown is where the Pirate King was born and executed so it became something of a tourist spot for pirates, and it's the last stop before the Grand Line. Meanwhile, all over the world, every pirate worth his salt is going to the Grand Line to try to find One Piece, or just to make whatever trouble they can. It's not called the Age of Pirates for nothing.

Wow. And there are pirates here then, from your world or others?

In my home country there are several large criminal groups that cause problems. There's also mixed opinions about the military and then you have freelancers. Vigilantes, guns-for-hires, hunters, each with their own motives.

Yes. The Straw Hat Crew, Blackbeard: Marshall D. Teach, the Heart Pirates: Law and Bepo, and one Marco of the former Whitebeard Pirates, are all from my world.
Jack Sparrow and a few others are from other worlds.

I can understand that. There was a case of "supposedly" bounty hunters expanding into a crime ring that involved trying to take over a country in order to get a weapon. And the ring-leader was government acknowledged "hero," a shichibukai -- legalized pirate.

It really doesn't get easier, does it?
