when i saw your post i was all like a baby needs a theme???? and then i was like thank gawd i live in the wilds of the west where we are too uncultured to theme our babies (though i don't really know that, just that we always seem to have less of that sort of thing, but for all i know parents are madly theming right now!)
i didn't really have colours for my wedding either, but then again i barely wear make up and my hair is a disaster, so you probably shouldn't use me as a measuring stick for success at womanhood :P
I think it might be part of where I live, definitely. but man, it totally threw me off initially.
Yeah, I'm a mascara and chapstick person (when I think of it) and I usually wear my hair in a ponytail. So this whole thing was sort of a weird realization for me. :)
Oh gods, I SO did not do themes. My kids just had some random stuff they got from other people. By now Wynnie sort of has the theme of "pink" and "fashion", but she's 7 at this point and can choose for herself.
Having said that, I think a SHERLOCK theme would be brilliant. I love John, too, but how cute would the little one be all tucked under a Union Jack blanket, clutching her plush skull? *giggle*
If it's any consolation, I AM the kind of girl who had colors and themes and expectations for her wedding... I find the idea of taking care of a baby less scary than owning a pet. K, I browse at Babies R Us when I go tot the mall... (clearly, I am a crazy person)
And I have no idea what theme they are talking about.
Also, I was just reading the comments on a Gawker article and someone described Benedict's voice as "his voice sounds like a jaguar hiding in a cello" and I thought of you.
You haven't missed the boat. And you don't fail at being a girl. I PROMISE. You're letting Hobo be who Hobo is! And that's okay!
We got a lot of the same stuff, too.
It's funny what people will take as important to them. And hey, that's what floats their boat, and awesome for them. But it doesn't have to be important to you, too.
Thank you. I've just felt so weird whenever someone asks me, because I give them a look like, "umm.. theme?" and they look at me like I should know what they're talking about. But I think I needed people to tell me that doing what makes sense to me IS what makes sense for Hobo.
