See, that's awesome. I love when people figure out what they want and can go after that. Also, how cool that she got a fuzzy purple rug -- I totally want one of those.

and thank you. ♥ I needed that.

The very fact that you feel like you've "failed" at being a girl because of this makes me so sadface. (Even though I know you're wonderfully okay with yourself and all, as it should be!) But JFC, you don't fail at anything; SOCIETY FAILS AT GENDER, BASICALLY. *rageface* I feel very sorry for people who have absorbed marketing and TV-style gender roles to such an extent that they can't think for themselves or their own families anymore.

*hugs* Your little girl is going to be the luckiest baby in the WORLD to have you (and copilot). ♥

Society really does fail at gender, doesn't it? I mean seriously, all of the marketing -- every place I go/look has things organized by: "girl's clothes" and "boy's clothes" and it makes me crazy.

thank you, thank you. I needed people to set me back firmly on my own path. ♥

There really is all of this weird stuff related to babies, I'm finding. Things that sort of seek to label/pigeonhole them ahead of time, and things that don't respect the personhood that they're going to have (not, of course, that I'll know all about her person-ness right away, but I suspect she's going to teach me more than I can possibly fathom) and it really is such a shame.

and, thank you. ♥ I needed people to tell me that I was going the right way for me/her/copilot.

Ahhh, well see that would be very convenient.

Yeah, I had a similar reaction with wedding flowers, where the florist and I were talking about my bouquet and how much I love purple and we decided to go with orange flowers and purple ribbon and her assistant let out a whoop and said, "man, *I* want to make your bouquet! No one ever goes with bright colors for their flowers!"

Ahhh, I remember seeing pictures of the donuts! ♥ And we eventually did a bunch of fall-ish colors and I had purple and orange in my bouquet because I LOVE bright colors.

But, yeah, I think I just needed you all to talk me down a wee bit. THank you. ♥
