i was not a fan of sons and lovers. but you might be.. because you like that type of book more than me.

dh lawrence is terrible. i do not in any way endorse his continued presence in the canon of american literature. He should go the way of the limerick (to maintain the parallel within my metaphor at least in terms of both being literary) and only be brought up in polite society as the butt of jokes. Reading Sons and Lovers was as joyless an experience as watching The Passion and did not afford the wealth of Mel Gibson holocaust denier jokes that the aforementioned film did.

PS: excuse any awful spelling or grammar or word-order choices as well as the fact that i am violating a personal rule and commenting. I am drunk and it is nearly daylight again so i feel as though such improprieties are somehow made excusable by the circumstances of the post although I'm sure i would not feel the same way were i more awake and/or clear headed.

maybe it's cause i was like 12 years old, but dh lawrence made me wanna puke. may i recommend banana yoshimoto, anne lamott, or camus instead.

i refuse to read any fiction written past 1940. i also find the need to read classics so when i decide i can read something past 1940, i'll know what it's based on.

even you and me are far away, we are in sync. becuase i picked up tropic of cancer three days ago. even though i have too many books on my hands already. i was also about to post a reading list thing. and then came upon yours.

ps, lets trade books. i think youd be interested in a good amount of the ones i have.
