More things to relish about this story:

Brian lights another cigarette and winds down the window a little to let the smoke out. It’s still warm out despite being nearly dark now. It’s so quiet out here, he can imagine himself alone in the world. Like he has been over the last three years. Because he made it that way. The airless quality of the narrative, the taut sunshine-less world Brian constructed to live out his plan; I enjoyed being teased by it the whole time and relieved to know he doesn't need it any more and can let some air in.

His doctor warned him about that and about delusions and paranoia. Luckily there are no signs of any of those yet. Oh, chuckle here.

After only four and a half days, two of which he spent almost entirely at work, Brian feels a lot less numb and everything suddenly looks a little different. Aaaah, Justin. Teh love.

Brian breathes deeply to quell the fear that assails him with full force as soon as his decision is made. He knows it’s stupid to think that Justin is in any more danger now that ( ... )

Lol. Yes, Brian would be the last to admit that he might suffer from delusions or paranoia. And thank you for providing him with an excuse for what he's been up to for the last three years. I'm sure he'll appreciate that. :-D

Thank you.

Oh thank goodness that dam tree remained standing and wearing only its bark not Brian. The psyche that connects Justin and Brian saved them again. Brian realises in time that Justin is what he needs to warm the cold of his existance and Justin feels ansty when Brian acts accommadating like other folks something is way off. I look forward to the epilogue.

Yes, it always comes down to the connection between Brian and Justin. That's what makes them so amazing. In this case, they scraped through by the skin of their teeth - or the bark of the tree, if you like. :-D

Thank you.

Damn Woman. My stomach muscles are cramped so tight. Thank God there were "4" cigarettes, as 3 wouldn't have been enough.

I even went to the beginning to see if this had a Death!Fic warning. I never pictured Brian to take the easy way out. Not after him and Justin got so close

I loved their little talk at the end. Justin making Brian "swear" on a promise is the best you can get.

Hugs,
Cathy

Brian probably would not consider the easy out under normal circumstances, but he is depressed and has a sleeping problem, so he's not thinking straight - pardon the pun. :-)

Thank you, Cathy.

Hugs.

It was a bit scary in the end there, but luckily Brian came to his senses.

Thank you.

I was with my palms sweat throughout this chapter, I was like, please Justin do something, do something because Brian is really in a bad place right now, we are lucky that Justin's is Brian's sunshine and he is the one capable to light his life

also in the lasts paragraphs I thought that Justin was gonna have a car accident, you know for the curve thing, the high speed... in the same moment that Brian finished his 4 cigarette and that was the reason why he would not kill himself because he had to save Justin lol I know, I know, I have my own story

it was really a pleasure to read one of your stories again :)

Justin did seem a bit slow to put it all together, didn't he? But you wouldn't expect something like this from Brian, who is usually such a rational person.

Thank you.
