When I was a child, I devoured books like they were food. And when I ran out of my own books to read, I'd run through my mother's library. Though now I can recall that she had mostly mysteries and a few romance novels, she had a few of the old hardbound Readers' Digest condensed books. One of them contained a story that I have yet to read in full, ( Read more... )

I've heard of the family and I can relate to not feeling like you belong. Good job!

Thank you! I guess more of us feel like we don't belong than I thought. Always good to know you're not alone!

What strikes me is your fourth paragraph.
Everybody has special need as human being, because the needs are different, because you don't need to learn braille or something obvious doesn't mean that you also have very special needs. And actually this family had 20 kids, but that happened after the book was written.
I don't know if they fought for a step or if they actually accepted that everyone has a place no matter how high the ceiling is.

That's the part of the entry where I stopped writing as if it was a book report and really got a chance to say what was speaking to me. I'm so glad it came across properly.

I'm glad I could read it right.
The thing about this family is that they taught all the kids to be independent, no matter what's their disabilities. I think they are a good example for everyone hiding behind their problems.
