Unpleasantness on the train

Aug 13, 2011 23:16

Some of you will already have seen this on FB. I would have posted it here sooner, but I don't have an app for LJ yet, and I wasn't up to typing much on the phone's keyboard.

You did a very good thing darling. You can't reason with someone when the situation is like that, by matching his aggression (albeit in a controlled way) you made sure your words reached him. More people should stand up and be counted when it comes to domestic violence. well done.

Thank you.

At some point, we need to meet up with large quantities of alcohol, chocolate and pretty boys to serve them to us!

If you hadn't intervened, she would've been ounched in the face until he decided to stop. Unless he was bright enough, and sufficiently well-practiced, to inflict violence without visible marks.

You'll be reassured to know that men who inflict violence on women always back down when confronted by a larger man.

Thank you.

Although I'm not reassured that such men back down like - saddened is more the case. Saddened that their only method of dealing with frustration is the physical, and that as such it's the only way to get through to them.

I thought about that, but will it really make a difference?

It's not original, but thank you for standing up and getting involved.

Do those trains have CCTV? Would it be worth reporting the incident?

In the past, I've missed opportunities like that, and hated myself for it.

AFAIK, they only keep the footage for 24 hours unless an interest is expressed it. So it might be too late.

It's always worth reporting it, so that there's a record that something happened.
