What Makes a Misfit?

Dec 12, 2007 18:44

So last year, round about this time, tygie_bard and I got into a discussion about the claymation holiday classic Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, that prompted a major philosophical discussion in my LJ: What the hell is wrong with the little girl dollie with the pigtails?

That somewhat goes along with Dawny's theory.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure she says "Daddy" instead of "Mama" like other dolls. =P

My mind went to a very, very, very bad place. Especially after some of the replies that followed this one. I'm a bad woman. I really am.

I have a new theory. Watching this again, I noticed she has no nose.

"My doll has no nose."
"How does she smell?"
"AWFUL!"

So, she's too stinky to be anyone's toy.

Y'know, I'd noticed the nose thing too, but I really didn't think anything of it. That might be it. Or it might be, as Bryce suggested in his long-winded, over-the-top, made-me-pee-my-pants reply, that the checks on her top and her skirt don't align. It's as good an answer as any... she has no nose.

And thank you for the Muppet Show joke.

Perhaps she was just emo?

Apparently with good reason.

I'm pretty sure it was anti-feminism sentiments. After all, from what I saw and what I remember from the rest of the move... she is the ONLY toy on that island that is female and/or voiced by a female.

Obviously, Dollie was exiled for daring to think she should be equally as important as all the other toys out there.. and so was sent to an island where she could be treated like the town bicycle and put in her rightful place.

I liked this reply. I really did. And you were in the lead... and then Bryce replied. I'm sorry. You loose. You get nothing. Good day, sir.
